I graduated from Harvard Law School in 1993. Prior to law school, I graduated summa cum laude from the Pierre Laclede Honors College at the University of Missouri, and am a distinguished veteran of the U.S. Army.
My areas of expertise are Business Transactions, Contracts and Contract Disputes, Bankruptcy, and all areas of Real Estate.
In the area of Business Law, I bring in-house and real-world, business-related experience to the table when assisting clients with a variety of transactions, whether they be domestic or international. In doing so, for example, I provide a unique perspective when it comes to assisting a client with due diligence and counseling relating to the acquisition of other businesses and/or new technologies, negotiating and drafting license or consulting agreements, closing the purchase of a distressed real estate asset, assisting a client through the morass of foreclosure, and addressing the regulatory issues relating to such transactions.
I understand and facilitate my clients’ desire to get to Yes, having trained under Roger Fisher, the author of Getting to Yes and founder of modern day Alternative Dispute Resolution, at the Harvard Negotiation Project.
I am committed to providing sophisticated legal expertise at a reasonable cost to my clients, large and small, and deliver such an exceptional client experience that all of my clients will come back to me for all of their legal needs, and will refer me to their friends, family, and business colleagues. I strive to find the most creative and lawful solutions to my clients’ problems. My personal motto is: Nothing is written in stone, except my integrity.
My Personal History (An Officer and a Gentleman):
I was born in St. Louis, Missouri to a career army non-commissioned officer and his “perpetually pre-professional” wife. As an “army brat,” I grew up in Germany, Japan, and various southern states before my family settled in Killeen, a small community in central Texas. As a child, I first fantasized about being a U.S. Marine Corps fighter pilot “much like Pappy Boyington,” the WWII hero Robert Conrad portrayed in the 1970s television series Black Sheep Squadron. I thought it would be an honorable and respectable career choice as well as being fun and exciting.
Eventually however, due to a quirk of fate, I decided to join the elite unit of Army infantry and serve my country as an Airborne Ranger. I spent several years on active status in the U.S. Army before I later joined the California Army National Guard where I received my commission as a Signal Officer.
As stated, I graduated summa cum laude from college and earned a law degree in 1993 from Harvard Law School. I have many travels and experiences over the years. I like to think that my education, travels, and experiences have combined to make me a Gentleman.
Thus, it is appropriate and accurate to call me an Officer and a Gentleman, at your service.
